What is NUTOFA

A SACCO for tractor people and farmers.

We are a savings and credit cooperative based in Gulu, registered under Uganda’s Co-operative Societies Act in 2022 and licensed as a Tier 4 SACCO. We bring the whole mechanization value chain under one roof: tractor and land-clearance owners, operators, mechanics, agro-input and equipment dealers, agro-processors, off-takers, farmer groups, financial and insurance institutions, and development partners.

We save together, we borrow against our savings, and we run a tractor service centre at Lakang. We work across Acholi, Lango, Karamoja and West Nile.

The Lakang centre

A mechanization service centre, owned by the SACCO.

The Lakang centre sits on ten acres donated to the cooperative. We are building it into a year-round centre for tractors, implements, threshing, drying and storage.

Revenue from contract services pays operators, maintains the fleet, and is shared back to members as dividends.

A new tractor and implement fleet, handed over.

On 19 June 2026 the cooperative received three Kubota diesel tractors and a full set of implements, financed through a Murabaha investment facility from the Microfinance Support Centre under the Government of Uganda mechanization support. The stakeholder handover followed on 25 June at our Anaka office in Nwoya, so tillage services can roll out this second season.

  • 3 Kubota tractors
  • Disc ploughs & harrows
  • Multi-crop planters
  • Boom sprayers
  • Tipping trailers

Voices from the cooperative.

Before NUTOFA my groundnuts went for half price. Now I sell at the proper rate and borrow against my savings when school fees come.

A cooperative is not about charity. We hold each other’s savings, we vouch for each other’s loans, and we book each other’s tractors.

The Lakang centre is not a side project. It is the long-term business of this SACCO, and it is how we will pay year-on-year dividends.
