What is the membership entry fee?
A one-off UGX 20,000 across every category. You also pay a category-specific annual subscription (UGX 10,000–50,000 depending on category) and your first monthly savings (UGX 20,000 for Ordinary; UGX 100,000 for Corporate).
What documents do I bring?
A photocopy of your National ID or passport, plus two recent passport-sized photographs. That is everything.
How long does membership approval take?
Vetting normally takes two weeks. The Vetting Committee meets regularly and signs off your file before the Manager issues your member number and passbook.
Roles in the mechanization chain
What is a Hiring Agent?
A Hiring Agent invests in a day-block of tractor time (8 am to 5 pm). They cover fuel, operator pay, tractor rental, repair and SACCO fees, and resell the hours to farmers — netting the margin. Membership: UGX 25,000 annual subscription.
What is a Booking Agent?
A Booking Agent is the demand aggregator. They collect tractor service requests from farmer groups and plan deployment by hectare and timeframe. Paid 10% commission on aggregated jobs. Membership: UGX 15,000 annual subscription.
What qualifies someone as a Tractor Operator?
Operators must be trained on at least one tractor make, union-registered, and complete at least six months of supervised hours before being placed on the SACCO dispatch roster. Operators take part in mandatory refresher cycles.
What qualifies a Tractor Mechanic?
Mechanics must complete the SACCO's orientation programme and possess a full personal toolkit. The toolkit can be financed under a member-only mechanic toolkit scheme.
Saving and credit
How much can I borrow?
Up to three times your standing savings balance. Save UGX 200,000 and your ceiling is UGX 600,000. Save UGX 1,000,000 and your ceiling is UGX 3,000,000.
What is the minimum to apply for a loan?
A standing balance of UGX 50,000, an application fee of UGX 10,000, a 0.4% processing fee on approval, and one paid-up member as guarantor.
How fast is disbursement?
Emergency Loans are disbursed same-day for paid-up members. Mechanization and Agricultural Loans go through the Loan Committee's next sitting — usually within two weeks.
Can I pay in mobile money?
Yes — FlexiPay USSD *291# (merchant code 239422), MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, or bank transfer to Stanbic Bank Gulu (A/C 9030020097379). Cash is also accepted at the office.
Booking a tractor service
What does ploughing cost?
UGX 90,000 / acre for members and UGX 110,000 / acre for the public. A tractor ploughs about 3 acres per day.
What is the booking process?
Call the office (0393 254 401), WhatsApp the secretariat (0772 793 198), or visit Plot 1/3 Bank Lane in Gulu. The booking is confirmed once the field-inspection fee is paid.
Can I bundle services?
Yes — ploughing + harrowing + ridging on the same plot can be bundled at a discount. Speak to the secretariat.
Do you cover Karamoja and West Nile already?
The first hub is in Acholi (Lakang, Amuru). Lango, Karamoja and West Nile hubs launch through 2025–2027 under the Strategic Plan. Bookings outside Acholi today are routed via member-tractor coordination.
