On Friday 19 June 2026, NUTOFA SACCO LTD received a tractor and implement fleet from the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC), under mechanization support from the Government of Uganda. The fleet was financed through a Murabaha investment-finance facility the cooperative applied for and secured from the MSC. The handover took place at the MSC offices in Naguru, Kampala, with members of the cooperative, the secretariat and MSC staff present.
This is the largest single addition to the cooperative’s mechanization capacity since the Lakang plan was adopted. It puts modern Kubota tractors and a matched set of implements directly into the hands of the SACCO, to be deployed for member services across Acholi and the wider Northern Uganda coverage.
The fleet is led by three Kubota diesel tractors, two M9540 units and one M7040, all from Japan. With them came a full set of implements to cover the whole season of work. For opening and preparing land there are disc ploughs, hydraulic disc harrows and a sub-soiler. For planting and crop care there are four-row multi-crop planters, boom sprayers and fertilizer spreaders. For harvest and haulage there are grain threshers, tipping trailers and a tractor-mounted crane. Together the set lets the cooperative offer a fuller service, from land opening through to post-harvest handling, instead of tillage alone.

The fleet is owned by the SACCO and run for its members. Booking goes through the hub, and members pay a reduced member rate. Revenue from contract services pays operators, maintains the equipment, and is shared back to members as dividends. The Kubota units join the mechanization capacity already in members’ hands across the network, and they will be commissioned and put on the dispatch roster after the standard checks and operator assignment.

Following the Kampala handover, a stakeholder handover was held on Thursday 25 June 2026 at our office on Mission Road, Anaka Town Council, Nwoya District. Bringing all stakeholders together there allows the cooperative to roll out its tractor tillage services for this second season.
We thank the Microfinance Support Centre and the Government of Uganda for the support, and our partners who continue to walk this mechanization journey with the cooperative. For booking, membership or questions about the fleet, members can reach the secretariat at the Gulu head office, or on the cooperative WhatsApp line.
